How To Be An Effective Learner?

Hello and hi to my deary friends. 

Before I proceed to write about my post for today, I just want to ask all of you here. Have you ever think that your way of learning is effective enough? How to know that your way of learning is effective? As for me, you are considered as an effective learner when you are able to know and understand what your teachers or lecturers have taught you about in a long period. Meaning, you are able to bear in your mind what kind of new knowledge that you have gained at anytime when you are being questioned.

But, I'm pretty sure that there are some of us who will study in order to pass their exam, they do not bother if they can keep the knowledge in a long period.

There are some suggestions of mine to be an effective learner. First of all, if we want to be an effective learner in our lecture or class, you must prepare yourself on what kind of topic that will be taught to you. The term 'prepare' here means you are aware that you are going to learn new things and you must at least get the rough ideas about the topic before entering for your lecture or class. This is very important because when we  have the rough ideas, we can easily connect them with the lecturer's explanation about the particular topic. When you can easily link the ideas, you will have better understanding or I will say 'master' on the new topic.

The next one is you can train yourself to have sense of curiosity. Curiosity is a feeling that appears when we want to know more about something. Same goes to learning process. We must have the sense of curiosity. As I have told you before, students do not really bother about the knowledge itself. They tend to accept all and everything that has been taught by their educator without having any interest to know more about an issue. They do not want to ask themselves why and how. They are too lazy for that. Actually, when you have the sense of curiosity, you will force yourself to explore more. That is what effective learners do. Seek for answers for questions.

Apart from that, to be an effective learner, you have to train your mind to use your high order thinking skills. This is quite similar to sense of curiosity. When you use your high order thinking skills in any aspects in your life, you will be able to know and predict what kind of problems or consequences that you may face. You are trying to think further about anything until you feel satisfied and you will feel relief when you are able to master something completely.
